When choosing a gift for a friend or relative who loves gardening, a great choice is to give a garden gift basket. These baskets are available in different types or “flavors”, learning to choose the right one is important if you want to make your friend or relative feel special, but sometimes you can get lost in the middle of all the offers and the variety of products in the market.

To start, you must determine your budget for the gift. You can go to gardening stores in your area, but to me the best place to start your search for the perfect garden gift basket is the Internet.  On the Web you will find gardening gifts from all over the World; you’ll be amazed at the incredible amount of variety and creativity available. Bookmark the items you find the most interesting and that fit to the amount you plan to spend.

Getting to know the level of expertise of the person receiving the gift is really helpful.  The gifts in the basket can vary according to this.  For example, a novice gardener can benefit greatly from a gift basket that includes the basic tools like a watering can, a pruner, nozzles or a hose.

Another good tip is to get know the area of expertise of the gardener.  There are for example, gardeners that specialize on roses, if you find a gift basket with all the products for a rose gardener you can pretty much surprise him/her. If the gardener specializes in herbs, this kind of gift wouldn’t be much useful.  If you are planning to give a garden decoration gift, this tip will also be important.
